Poke-Home wire-to-wire connectors have been proven to be very simpleand reliable over the past several years. Until today, they have beenfocused on the light industrial wire gauge ranges of 18AWG to 24AWG.The latest product has just been developed to address the heavier12AWG to 18AWG. This new 300 series of connectors employs a single,phosphor bronze contact technology with a center wire stop. Acceptingboth solid and stranded wires, pre-stripped wires can be easily insertedand then twist and pulled to be removed.

This unique battery or removable module style connector is different from most others in that it allows for the pluggable device to be swiped or connected from either direction. The spring contact offers enhanced contact deflection range over existing connectors in the market with a full 1.4mm of travel after contact engagement. This contact design allows the connector to absorb more of the plastic or housing tolerances making it more functional and reliable in real life applications.

For more than a decade, insulation displacement contacts (IDC) and press-fit or compliant pin technology have been proven to be two of the most reliable contact systems in critical automotive systems such as: airbag, engine and transmission control units. AVX has combined these two contact technologies into a new and unique, high reliability WTB connection system to replace traditional 2-Piece solutions, offering designers a new packaging option.

This latest connector was developed specifically to support 18 to 22AWG solid or stranded wire terminations used in power supply, LED driver and industrial control products where PCB space is limited. This new 9296 connector offers a robust single beam contact which securely captures and retains the wire in a 23% smaller package size over previous versions.

The 9176-800 series has been developed specifically for 22-28AWG discrete wires in size critical applications. By reducing the Z axis height by 1.0mm and the overall volume by up to 50%, this new package size is an ideal choice in space constrained applications over previous IDC connectors.

The Industrial and Solid State Lighting markets continue to look for new products which will reduce size and cost without jeopardizing performance. The new dual-beam boxed contact system from AVX surface mounts to a PCB and provides a simple and reliable wire termination without soldering of the wire. The unique contact design integrates several key features within the stamping to facilitate SMT pickup, wire guidance, high force retention and easy wire removal. Combined, these features provide all of the benefits of a full function connector, without the added cost of the insulator and labor. - This family of 4mm, 3mm, 2mm and 1.7mm closed box contacts accept either solid or stranded wires ranging from 12AWG to 28AWG with current ratings up to 20Amps. Once the contacts are soldered onto the PCB, wires need to be stripped to length (twisted if stranded) and inserted into the open end of the box contact. As the wires are pushed in, upper and lower tines guide the wire down the center of the contact deflecting the right and left contact tines until the wire reaches the wire stop. Wires can be removed by twisting the wire out and or using a small blade removal tool to help release some of the contact force.

AVX extends their board-to-board right angle connectors with a new 2mm pitch version 9155-700, an addition to the existing versions 9155-300 with a 3mm pitch and 9155-500 with a 2.5mm pitch. The stability comes from extra SMT anchor brackets. In addition to existing versions, the new connector has two options, with or without locating bosses
