Description
This is a machined part that has extruded features, some revolved features, and some special cuts that include swept cuts and a boundary cut. Offset entities are used which allows for the cut wall geometry to update automatically if there are design changes of the parent feature (in this case Sketch1). The inverted pocket's edges are knit with the main surface body creating a solid body. The model is split so that center section could be shelled. It will then be joined back together with Combine Command.

Description
This is a sheet metal part symmetric vertically with respect to the Right Plane. Sheet metal features are used so that the part can be flattened out to create a flat pattern. Sheet metal features determines the thickness, bend radius, and k factor. 14 Gauge Steel is used for this model. The design begins in a flat state to maintain critical boundary dimensions. A combination of Sketched Bends and Edge Flanges to are used to create the desired geometry.

Description
This sheet metal part is symmetric vertically with respect to the right plane. The sheet metal features are used so that the part can be flattened out to create a flat pattern. The base flange/tab feature can be used not only as the first feature but can be used to add more material at the same thickness as rest of part. The unfold feature unfolds two bends to manually place a large bend relief cutout. A bottom bend relief is added to help facilitate manufacturing.

Description
Sheet metal features are used so that the part can be flattened out to create a flat pattern. The base flange was built it flat state to ensure correct footprint. A 90 Degree Sketched Bend places the bend centerline right on top of the sketch. The features are all mirrored with respect to the front plane. Edge flanges are used because not all features could be mirrored. A 90 degree Sketched Bend bends both flanges; the bend centerline is right on top of the sketch line. All sharp corners are broken except for inside locating tabs.

Description
This feature distinguishes that this is sheet metal part. It specifies the bend radius, wall thickness and K factor. Sheet metal features are used so that the part can be flattened out to create a flat pattern. A symmetric cut will help mirror the body downstream in the model creation. It is important to make sure the model can be flattened out. Do so by periodically checking the flat pattern, especially after adding Edge and Miter Flanges.

Description
This feature distinguish that this is sheet metal part. It specifies the bend radius, wall thickness and K factor. This part is created using sheet metal features so that the part can be flattened out to create a flat pattern. 90 degree edge flanges are used. The Delete Face is used to remove the small remnant of circle cutout. The Break Corner is used to remove sharp covers. Hems are closed using “Bend Outside” options; all the hems are full length. Make sure the model can be flattened out. Periodically check the flat pattern especially when adding Edge and Miter Flanges.

Sheet metal features are used so that the part can be flattened out to create a flat pattern. A closed corner adds material to the end of the edge flange. The hem is closed using the “Bend Outside” option. A 90 Degree Edge Flange is created using the "Material Inside" option. The Break Corner feature removes all sharp corners. Description
This part shows a workflow for creating parts for CNC machining. The part is modeled as a series of cuts into a solid block, similar to the way a CNC machine would cut the part. A technique to easily create reinforcing ribs that help lighten the part is shown.

Description
SOLIDWORKS sheet metal is used to deliver a flat pattern. Areas with distortion that cannot be unfolded by SOLIDWORKS sheet metal are modeled separately in both the folded and the flat configurations to get a pretty accurate flat pattern without compromising the design.

Let’s have some fun! When you download this part you will learn how a soccer ball is created and learn the design process while doing so. You start off creating four planar triangles, linking the rectangles in the sketches. These will be used in a circular pattern to create an Icosahedron: a 20-sided polyhedron with triangular faces.
