Description
In spirit of it being Halloween we give you a bat! This part demonstrates the use of “Hybrid Modeling” where solid and surface bodies are used to create the geometry. Using solid geometry is usually more efficient than using all surfaces then creating a solid body at the end. Surfaces are only used to create the geometry that would be difficult or almost impossible to make with normal solid body features. This fun model has several different examples of surface features including surface lofts and boundaries, surface trim, knit surface, thicken and a ruled surface. Solid bodies features include sweeps, combine and a centerline loft.

Description
This single body part starts as a multi-body and shows how to use body patterns to control geometry in ways that feature patterns can't always do. This part includes two body patterns, surface cuts, helix curves and a Combine feature. This part also highlights the use of "Feature Scope" to control which bodies are affected by surface cuts.

Description
There are many ways to model a bottle and measure its volume. This part takes the approach of using the internal volume as the driving variable and the bottle height as the driven variable. The internal volume of this revolved shape can be thought of as 3 discrete volumes. The center volume is a simple cylinder with a known diameter and height. Below that is the volume around the bottle feet. Above the cylindrical volume is the toroidal volume. Only the center volume is easy to represent as an equation. In this part we measure the non-trivial volumes with the Mass Properties Tool and input those results as global variables. We then change the height of the cylinder based on desired volume minus the two irregular volumes. This part is a good example of setting up global variables, linking values, when to not select "Merge result", editing equations, and show the use of the newer "Intersect" command. This multi-body part has other advanced features used in this part including a very detailed Sketch Picture explaining the Volume calculation, a Helical Sweep, a circular body Pattern and couple of Combine commands.

Description
Covers some advanced surface blends and good surface modeling.A curling stone is made from an injection molded handle mounted to a solid granite stone that has been carefully machined to a precise shape. This part covers several different surface modeling features and discuss ways to ensure correct draft of surfaces at the parting line. It touches on some good uses of surface fill and surface sweeps.

Description
Since all the pieces are connected end to end they can be placed into one group, useing round tubing for the profile. All weldments need a 2D or 3D sketch which “acts” like the path of sweep. The profile is selected from a list and does not need to be sketched every time.

Description
This part only has one flat face where the LCD screen is located; it is created using only surface body features. The ruled surface acts like a sweep in the case, but you don’t have to sketch a sweep profile. The Surface Extend feature cleans up corners by “overbuilding” surfaces and then trimming them back, ensuring no gaps between geometry. The final two surface bodies not knitted together by all of the previous trim features are stitched together. The surface body is turned into a solid body. The cut extrude feature cleans up corners using convert entities and up to surface end condition.

Description
This part uses almost all surface body features. Almost all surfaces are curved surfaces even the front surface is not flat. The only flat surfaces are the side profiles and inside slider opening. Side trims are used to create side profiles. The Surface Trim cleans up extended rules surface using the mutual trim option, picking what to remove. A Surface Knit merges the top and side surface bodies together. The main body is combined with a small tapered boundary surface body. A Boundary Surface Cut is used for the irregular shape lip cutout.

Description
The front surface is not flat on this part. There are five degrees of draft on outside surfaces. The two edge Boundary surfaces are used to created chamfered corners around the curved edges. The thicken command will create a solid. Draft Analysis is used to ensure the part will come out of the mold. The part is shelled inward and a boundary surface is made using multiple cross sections and lower edges as guide curve. A grip cutout is used for grip indentation and construction surface bodies are removed to avoid confusion.

Description
This model was created using only surface body features and then is turned into a solid body using a thicken command. The first feature is a revolved surface with an open sketch using an arc. This part is symmetric about the Top Plane.

Description
This extrusion represents the outside profile of this shelled out part. This model demonstrates Hybrid Modeling (use of both Solid and Surface Bodies to create geometry). When the Trim command knits the surfaces together as part of the process, the Surface Body Count goes from 4 to 1. Cosmetic Fillets are used to eliminate sharp edges on the inside of the model.
